This couple quit their job to travel the world, but ...
... is now forced to wash toilets.
Once Chanel Cartell and Stevo Dirnberger decided to quit their job to find out how far they could travel from their home. And recently, a couple wrote in their blog that they hide from social media the real aspects of their journey around the world.
Many people have such acquaintances and even friends who have finished their daily ritual from 8 to 5 and set off in search of adventure.
This is the story of Chanel Cartelle and Steve Dirnbergera from South Africa, who quit their full-time advertising job and went traveling as far as possible from home.
On this occasion, the couple started their blog "How far from home" (How far from home) and from the very beginning of the journey began to upload there beautiful photos of their travels around the world
And they literally blew up fantasy and instilled hope in every office worker.
But the couple wants their readers to know that they do not have fun all day long and do not peacefully practice yoga on the beaches of Greece. In fact, they are forced to clean toilets and earn cash through hard work.
They want to be as honest with their readers as possible, so they decided to tell how their journey actually goes.
"We want to paint an honest picture for those who are thinking of doing the same thing, and for those who think that non-stop travel is a glamorous tale," they said
Chanel said that when they do not make beautiful photos, they are busy and hard work
“I think at the moment we cleaned 135 toilets, scattered 250 kg of cow dung, shoveled 2 tons of land, laid 60 meters of the road, made 57 beds and I can't even remember how many glasses we polished. You can see that we left a luxury, where we lived in Johannesburg and turned into volunteers on the opposite side of the scale. We are now toilet cleaners, dog shit collectors, grocery store menchandisers and land diggers, "she said
In their search for work, a couple uses the services of the site "Workaway", with the help of which they manage to earn money for food and travel
And even though a couple has everything vital and even a little more, their budget is strictly limited, so they often have to improvise
But in spite of everything the couple wrote that all the problems they face are worth getting the invaluable experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
“It’s like a paradise for us. Of course, the tree should be folded and the garbage should be taken out, but once this is done, we are free and can explore, travel and be alone with our winding thoughts,” said Shantel Cartell
The couple very much hopes that their experience will push other people to new challenges and to leave their comfort zone.
