Russia's largest producer of cars for long-distance trains this year will celebrate its 120th anniversary. Today, the Tverskoy Zavod develops and manufactures more than fifty rolling stock modifications, including double-decker cars for long-distance trains, subway cars, the Ivolga high-speed electric train, as well as modern low-floor and practically silent Vityaz trams. In the anniversary year, the plant plans to produce about one and a half thousand cars and bodies - not only for the domestic market, there are orders from abroad.
.Tver plant was founded in 1898. His roots are Franco-Belgian. The enterprise made its debut with the release of freight cars, but since the beginning of the 20th century it has concentrated on rolling stock for passenger traffic. After the revolution, it was nationalized.During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the plant was not managed to be evacuated, it was almost completely destroyed, but the enterprise was quickly restored. In Tver (until 1991 — Kalinin) all cars were manufactured for Soviet railways.
.Today, Tverskoy Zavod is the only high-tech enterprise in the country that produces one- and two-story passenger cars, including for high-speed trains. As well as freight and special, metro cars, trams and other types of products.
.Cold-press shop. Here, various parts for cars are produced on a modern plasma cutting machine: current pulses with a voltage of 5–10 kilovolts create a plasma arc that quickly and smoothly cuts steel from a millimeter to a half dozen centimeters thick.
.From the plasma arc - to the metal. Installation for forming profiles helps to produce arcs for the roof of the car.
.Steel rolled give the desired shape bending press with numerical control.
.On the profiling line in the cold-press shop, a profiled sheet is produced for the side wall of the car.
.One of the tasks of the headset shop is to protect bolts and other metal products from corrosion. Here hardware and other parts of the cars are coated with a galvanic protective coating.
.Sandblasting area. The details of the carriage's carriage are ground with abrasive particles under enormous pressure.
.Employees frame-body shop collect side walls ("sides") of single-storey cars.
.The welder attaches the flooring to the car frame.
.The surface of the car should be flat and smooth. The process of stripping the side of the car.
.A very crucial moment - the welding of external seams on the side walls of the body. Automation helps quickly and steadily create high-quality seam. The installation uses advanced cold transfer technology, it is almost completely free of metal spatter. The output is a durable and beautiful seam.
.Assembling the roof of the car in the frame-body shop.
.Automatic welding of roof elements is accompanied by constant and strict quality control. The lower the deformation from the welded points, the better the appearance of the cars.
.Welders work on the roof of the car.
.Over the past 10 years, the Tver Plant has produced more than 7,000 different passenger cars. Capacities of the enterprise allow to produce over a thousand cars per year.
.Preparatory work in the paint-drying chamber. The surface of the car is covered with polyurethane paintwork materials and dried at 60º C.
.Car assembly shop. The car body is moved using a transborder.
.A transborder is a device for transferring wagons from one section of the workshop to another.
.Employees of the car assembly shop are ready for installation of a sliding-sliding door.
.Before handing over to the technical control department, the last elements of painting are applied on the car.
.One of the key conditions for the comfort of passengers is the ventilation system inside the car.

.Passenger and mail cars of various modifications in anticipation of shipment to customers. The Tver plant has its own branch line with access to the Moscow-St. Petersburg highway.
.Double-deck cars are assembled on this line - a fundamentally new type of rolling stock for domestic roads for the transport of passengers over long distances. Tver plant has already produced more than 150 such cars.
.The Tver plant produces rolling stock not only for long-distance passenger traffic. The welder is working on the assembly of the head car of the future composition of the St. Petersburg metro.
.Several years ago, Tverskoy Zavod mastered the production of cars for the Moscow Metro together with Metrovagonmash, both enterprises being part of the Russian Transmashholding.
.Metro cars of the 81-722 “Yubileiny” series were created specifically for the St. Petersburg metro.
.Ready car body for the metro.
.Ready body of the subway car.
.Tverskoy car-building plant produces bodies for modern low-floor trams.

.Installation of the frame of the tram series 71-931M "Vityaz-M".
.The assembly of the head section "Vityaz-M" for Moscow.
.Ready "Vityaz-M". The company in Tver has already released more than 120 units of trams of this modification of low-floor trams.
.Casting iron for the production of parts of cars.
.Production of axles for wheel pairs in the carriage shop.
.Air suspension trolley for the newest city electric train EG2Tv "Oriole". Thanks to advanced solutions developed in Tver, the train accelerates to 160, and in the future - up to 250 km / h.
.Elements of the interior of cars create in the woodworking shop. There is a processing of aluminum parts for the internal space of the cars.
.Assembly of partitions for the interior of the car.
.Shelves, tables and other items in railroad cars are also called furniture. And do it in the woodworking shop.
.The inner surfaces of the cars are covered with polyester powder paints on the automated line.

.Processing of parts on the milling machining center in the repair and tool production.
.The energy “heart” of the plant is the boiler shop.
.At the beginning of the XXI century, the Tver Carriage Works experienced a serious crisis, for the sake of saving Russia's unique production, the government took a number of urgent measures (restricting the purchase of cars abroad, subsidizing Russian Railways for purchasing domestic products, abolishing VAT on long-distance transport - carriers will use the released resources for the purchase of new rolling stock of Russian production).
.State support had the effect: Tver plant today receives a steady income and develops new types of products.
